Statue of Equality – Sri Ramanuja big statue
Sri Ramanuja was a great proponent of equality of all in front of the almighty. It felt great to see this gigantic statue of the Vaishnavaite saint, called Statue of Equality installed a few kilometres from Hyderabad Airport. Reminded me of the Big Buddha (Mount of Tian Tan) in Hong Kong. Statue of equality has this giant Sri Ramanuja image, a smaller golden replica of the large statue for prayers and recreation of all the 108 Vaishnavaite Divya Desams (Holy temples) of Lord Vishnu. Sri Ananda Vinayagar Temple, Siruseri, Chennai

Koodal Azhagar temple, Madurai
After my brief visit to Rameswaram, I am staying for two days in Madurai. Today, I went to Madurai Meenakshi Temple and then to Thiru Koodal Azhagar temple, Madurai [அருள்மிகு கூடலழகர் திருக்கோயில், மதுரை]. Sri Koodal Azhagar temple is a South Indian Hindu temple in Madurai. It is believed that Koodal Azhagar had appeared to slay the demon Somuka who abducted the four Vedas. It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to God Sri Vishnu, who is worshipped as Viyooga Sundarrajan and his consort Lakshmi as Mathuravalli.

Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundareshwarar Temple, Madurai
After my brief visit to Rameswaram, I am staying for two days in Madurai. Today, I went to Madurai Meenakshi Temple. Due to security reasons, the temple authorities don’t allow any electronics including smartphones inside the premises, so I couldn’t take any pictures. One of the most famous Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu, Sri Meenakshi Sundareshwarar Temple [மதுரை மீனாட்சி சுந்தரேசுவரர் கோயில்] in Madurai is dedicated to the goddess Meenakshi, a form of Parvati, and her consort, Sundareshwarar, a form of Shiva. Wikipedia says “Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple was built by Pandayan Emperor Sadayavarman Kulasekaran I (1190 CE–1205 CE)”.

Adi Jagannatha Perumal Temple, Thiruppullani
Leaving Rameswaram after a brief visit, I was heading to Madurai, on the way, I went for a darshan (worship) at the famous Adi Jagannatha Perumal Temple, Thiruppullani [அருள்மிகு ஆதிஜெகந்நாதப்பெருமாள் கோயில், திருப்புல்லாணி]. Instead of going to Madurai by Madurai to Dhanushkodi highway (National Highway 87), I was advised to take the Rameswaram to Thoothukudi Road (State Highway 717), this smaller road reaches directly the temple in Thiruppullani. I loved taking this road-since it had been only a few months after the seasonal rains, there was greenery all around this road which had no traffic and it was beautiful. Sri Ardhanareeswarar Temple, Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu
We had a good darshan at Arulmigu Ardhanareeswarar Temple at Tiruchengode Hills (திருச்செங்கோடு அர்த்தநாரீசுவரர் கோயில்). The sacred hill is about 650 feet high, the drive by car is short, about ten minutes and by foot it will be a climb of 1156 steps. From Namakkal where we had offered our prayers earlier, Tiruchengode was a 45-minutes’ drive by Salem-Trichy (Tamil Nadu State Highway 94), from Salem city it will be about an hour. Since we went early on a weekday (Wednesday) there was no crowd in the temple, only a dozen other devotees. I feel blessed to have gotten a good darshan at Namakkal Sri Anjaneyar Temple [அருள்மிகு ஆஞ்சநேயர் சன்னதி, நாமக்கல்] and at Namakkal Sri Narasimhaswamy Temple [அருள்மிகு நாமகிரி தாயார், நரசிம்மர் திருக்கோயில், நாமக்கல்]. Namakkal Sri Anjaneyar Namakkal Sri Anjaneyar is one of the famous temples for Lord Hanuman in the state and is over a millennium old. The 18-feet idol is composed of a single stone and is believed to be growing slowly in height every year, as a result, there is no roof for the holy idol. Sankagiri Fort in Erode, Tamil Nadu
Today I felt wonderful as if I have accomplished something significant – feeling this way after a long time. This was after I completed the trek/climb to the top of the Sankagiri Fort in Salem District. It took me about 75 minutes to reach the top – a height of 2300 feet. Since it is a pandemic out there, and we had gone on an afternoon on a weekday I saw only a few others inside the fort – a group of young college students, a couple and a solo traveller.
