திரு க.சுபாஷிணி அவர்களோடு ஓர் மாலை சந்திப்பு
இன்றைய மாலைப் பொழுது இனிமையாகப் போனது. ஜெர்மானியக் கணினிப் பொறியாளர், தமிழ் மரபு அறக்கட்டளை இயக்குனர், வரலாற்று ஆர்வலர் மற்றும் எழுத்தாளர் திரு க. சுபாஷிணி அவர்களை அவரின் சென்னை இல்லத்தில் சந்தித்துப் பேசிக் கொண்டேயிருந்ததில் நேரம் போனதே தெரியவில்லை. இரண்டு நாட்களாக சென்னை புத்தகக் காட்சி 2022யில் எனக்கு வேண்டிய எல்லாப் புத்தகங்களும் வாங்கியாயிற்று என்று நிம்மதியாயிருந்த எனக்கு, சுபாஷிணி மேலும் ஆறேழு புத்தகங்களை அறிமுகம் செய்துள்ளார், நாளை போய் அவற்றை வாங்கவேண்டும். இதற்குத் தான் நண்பர்களை அதுவும் புத்தகங்களை எழுதும்/வாசிக்கும் நண்பர்களைப் பார்க்க அவர்களின் இல்லத்திற்குச் சென்றுப் பார்க்கக்கூடாது என்பது – நமக்குச் செலவு (அறிவு வரவு உண்டு தான்!).

Birthday gift from Uncle Pai of Tinkle
As a child in the 1980s (like many others), my first exposure to Indian Epics, Ramayana & Mahabharata, classic stories like the Jataka Tales, Panchatantra, the clever Birbal, witty Tenali Rama were from the fantastic Amar Chitra Katha comics. For entertainment, it was the Tinkle (comics) subscription – filled with wonderful characters like Kalia the crow, Nasruddin Hodja, Suppandi, Shikari Shambu and others. Apart from these characters, I enjoyed and learned from the columns on science, facts and more written by Mr Anant Pai, affectionately called by his young fans as Uncle Pai. Falling Strong by Stephen J Alexander
Falling Strong – A Novel by Stephen J Alexander, is a fiction set in a future (2032) Europe & then moves to the USA. The book is part 2 of a trilogy, but as the author says it can be read standalone as well, which is what I did. An evening of reading magazines
It feels good. Yesterday, I spent my evening reading the backlog issues of magazines, that I had put aside, but never read in 2021. Generally, I read #magazines in the days following the receipt, but somehow these few got stashed away in my reading corner. Madras Musings & Reader’s Digest India are magazines I love, in every issue, there are items that I will take a note of (I use Evernote) or photograph for future reference. When I read magazines, I would like to be thorough, I try to finish cover-to-cover, so it takes time – that’s the reason I put aside the issues for want of a suitable time.…
