Last night (7th September 2025), I stayed up late on the terrace to watch the lunar eclipse in Chennai. It was a cloudy night, and I had to go out every five minutes from 11:30 PM, hoping the clouds would give way for a clear view. With my Canon EOS 250D and a 75-300mm tele-zoom lens, and no tripod, I ended up lying flat on the terrace floor, trying my best to hold steady.

When the moon finally showed itself, I was struck by how red it appeared during the peak of the eclipse. Later, as the shadow started to move away, the diamond-like shine that came back on one side of the moon was beautiful to watch. Most of the photos I managed were taken in the second half of the eclipse, around 12:20 AM.

The pictures may not be perfect, but the sight of the red moon and the sparkling return of its light made the whole effort memorable. Sometimes, the waiting and the struggle with clouds, the camera, and shaky hands turn out to be part of the fun.
