Inconsiderate drivers and woes of poor car parking
It was an hour past my usual lunch time. As I stepped out of the office towards my car, I noticed there was a car on the street that was blocking the way. There was absolutely no way to take my car out. I asked people standing in the tea shop and those in the area – the car belonged to none of them. That’s when I noticed (see the red arrow in the picture) a hand-written note saying “Driver 9xxxx xxxxx”. How not to do password input?
If there is one thing I don’t look forward to when I buy a new device is the setting up, especially entering passwords to the websites and apps I use. We are all encouraged by the tech giants to have long and difficult passwords for security reasons, but I feel they don’t do enough to make the process convenient (note that I am not saying easy which is associated with being easy for the bad actors as well) for us to use. Yes, there are efforts like Microsoft Account Phone sign-in which allows you to do password less logging in, but they are not available always and are not supported…

Chennai Airport and Baggage Carousels!
Chennai Domestic Airport is the most entertaining in the whole world of aeronautics. There are four baggage carousels, and you will have to guess the correct one – where your bags will come. The fastest wins. To add to the fun, the displays and airline staffs will always tell you the wrong number. Wow! What fun it is. Today, I am thirty minutes into the game, and I am losing. And they manage to do this for the last two decades day in and day out, even with a new airport that was built a few years ago – and that’s customer service and delight.

I feel pity for “normal” (Non-Technical Savvy) people – as it is becoming ever more difficult NOT to fall a prey to trickery and lose your hard earned money. Senseless parking in the footpath
சென்னை கே.கே.நகரில் ராமசாமி சாலை, மற்றும் லஷ்மணசாமி சாலைகளில் சில வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பாக அகலமான தனி நடைபாதை / மிதிவண்டி பாதை அமைத்து, அதற்குத் தடுப்பும் போட்டிருக்கிறது சென்னை மாநகராட்சி. நல்ல முயற்சி. இன்றைக்கு அந்த வழியாக மாலை நேர நடை போனேன். இன்றும் நடைபாதை முக்கால்வாசி இடங்களில் நன்றாகத் தானுள்ளது, ஆனால் மக்கள் முட்டாள்களாகச் சிலப்பல இடங்களில் (குறிப்பாகக் கடைகள்/உணவகங்கள்/மருத்துவமனைகள்) முன்பாகத் தங்களின் வாகனங்களை நடக்கக்கூட வழிவிடாமல் நிறுத்தியுள்ளார்கள். இதனால் நல்ல நடைபாதை இருந்தும் பஸ் போகும் சாலையில் இறங்கி நடக்க வேண்டியுள்ளது. இந்த முட்டாள்களை எந்தச் சட்டம் போட்டோ, எவ்வளவு பணம் செலவு செய்து ஸ்மார்ட் சிட்டி (SMART CITY) வடிவமைத்தாலோ, ஓர் அடிக்கு ஒரு காவலரைப் போட்டாலோ கூட ஒன்றும் திருத்த முடியாது. இவர்களைப் பார்த்துச் சிரிக்கத் தான் தோன்றுகிறது. கோபப்பட்டுப் பயனியில்லை! #footpath #chennai #parking #chennaicorporation

மேலேயுள்ள செய்தியைப் பாருங்கள். தமிழக அரசின் நகர மற்றும் ஊரமைப்பு இயக்குநரகத்தின் இணையத்தளத்தில், கிராமங்களின் பெயர்களை ‘டிராப்-டவுன்’ பட்டியலில் சேர்ப்பதில் சிக்கலாம்! அழுவதா, சிரிப்பதா என்று தெரியவில்லை. மென்பொருள் பற்றிய புரிதல் இவ்வளவு குறைவாக, படித்த அதிகாரிகள் இடமே இப்படி இருக்கிறதே என்று. இதை நம்மால் சரியாக செய்யமுடியவில்லை என்றால், இந்தியா ஒரு மென்பொருள் வல்லரசு என்று சொல்வதில் ஒரு அர்த்தமும் இல்லை.
