The Original Post – 23rd January 2019
Unbelievable! An ordinary photo I took of a neighbourhood park in Chennai was viewed over 60,000 times in Google Maps. Overall, all the photos I posted there was viewed half a million times.
We keep hearing the power and reach of Google services, but to see it in this “everyday” way was unbelievable!
These are the reasons I still love “technology”.
Update: 28th January 2020
WOW! I never expected to cross 2 million photo views for my contributions to
Google Maps. I started doing this, just for karma points and to be on the good books of our (future) computer overlords who are likely to come from Google Brains.

Update: 26th August 2020
Crossed over 2.5 Million photo views to my contribution to Google Maps.

Update: 16th November 2021
The photos that I contributed to Google Maps have been viewed over 4 Million (4,000,000). I feel happy and pleased as well as this is a community contribution. We all rely on Google Maps for directions, and in recent years I have found the community provided photos that accompany the place to be useful to know about the place. That is the motivation for me to upload pictures of the places I visit. I try to avoid posting anything that may be personal/private or my pics which is unrelated to the place. Of course, due to the pandemic my going out has come close to zero.
