    Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal (2022)

Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal (காத்துவாக்குல ரெண்டு காதல்) is a love story starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara & Samantha Ruth Prabhu, directed by Vignesh Shivan. The film was based on a kind of triangular love, an ideal plot for comedy and romance, unfortunately, it fails to impress due to a spiritless screenplay. It gets my Raw rating. Rambo (Vijay Sethupathi) falls in love with Kanmani (Nayanthara) in the morning and with Khatija (Samantha) in the evening, whether he does this knowingly or unknowingly, who is he really in love, do the three live as a trouple are explored in the story. I was expecting tons of humour from the director who made…

    Oh My Dog (2022)

Oh My Dog (2022) is a kids’ film featuring a young boy and his love for an orphaned puppy. Veteran actor Vijayakumar, his son the talented Arun Vijay and grandson Arnav Vijay star as the three generations of a family in the movie. The film is meant for children and they will love the film. Targeting them, the director Sarov Shanmugam has gone easy on the plot and sloppy on the screenplay, so the adults will find little interest in the film. Released on Amazon Prime Video, it gets a Raw rating on the Mangoidiots scale. Arnav Vijay, son of Arun Vijay is the star of the film who finds…

    Beast (2022)

Beast (2022) is an all-out mass hero entertainment movie with an unimaginative plot that surprisingly was fun to watch. Director Nelson has used the same style of non-serious storytelling and casting from Doctor (2021) which suited a hero like Sivakarthikeyan, but surprisingly Vijay has made it work for him as well. Known for his dancing and fast actions, Vijay has exceeded his past performances in this film, if you like him, you will be enthraled. The film gets my mangoidiots rating of Raw. A shopping mall in Chennai city is hijacked and hundreds of people are taken hostage at gunpoint by terrorists who want their Kashmiri leader in Tihar jail,…

    Kadaisi Vivasayi (2022)

Kadaisi Vivasayi (2022), meaning the last farmer, will surely impact you. It follows a slice of the life of an octogenarian farmer who leads a simple yet fulfilled life. The current trend in Kollywood is to show how noble and difficult the plight of farmers is, so I was expecting an emotionally draining film here, but Kadaisi Vivasiyi was brisk and fun to watch. Known for realistic films like Kaaka Muttai (2015), director M Manikandan has made this one too with little cinematic cliches. Please don’t miss this film, it is available on Sony Liv and gets a Ripe rating from Mangoidiots. The film starts with the timeless devotional song…

    Hey Sinamika (2022)

Hey Sinamika (2022) starring Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal, directed by Dance master Brinda is a married-couple quarrel told in a simplistic manner. The lead actors have done a good job, but I felt there was a lack of sufficient chemistry between Dulquer and Aditi Rao that made it difficult for us to relate to their characters. The film is available on Netflix and gets Mangoidiots Raw rating. Yaazhan (Dulquer Salmaan) is a young man with strong principles who falls in love and marries Mouna (Aditi Rao Hydari). The couple is happy, but the overflowing love of Yaazhan suffocates Mouna, who is free-spirited. She approaches a psychologist…
