Monster (2019) is a genre that you normally don’t see in Kollywood. It is about a ‘rat’ that creates havoc in the life of a bachelor in his newly bought apartment. This one line is narrated with good camerawork and fine casting by Director Nelson Venkatesan, whose earlier film Oru Naal Koothu (2016) I liked too.

S J Surya was the backbone of the film with his brilliant acting, nowadays he is turning out to be a versatile actor – it is not easy to act when the other character (here the rat) is not there during the shooting and he comes out super-convincing. Karunakaran and Priya Bhavani Shankar have supported Surya very well. Apart from the ‘rat’, there is a small sequence of smuggling and love, unfortunately, both were not explored in detail – if they had been done, the film would’ve turned out to be more interesting.

Take your kids this week to this film, they will surely enjoy it. Rest assured the film is 100% family friendly.
