I had the opportunity to visit and have darshan at this temple in Devadhanam near Minjur a few months ago. It’s in a peaceful village surrounded by paddy fields. The moolavar of this temple is five feet high and 18 feet in length and the special feature of this temple is that the Lord Sri Ranganatha appears in ‘sudhai vadivam'(not made of stone, but of stucco). The Lord here has his head resting on a (unit of) measure as his pillow (marakkal thalayanai), as the Lord has given away the grains in this vessel after the harvest season and is resting. சென்னைக்கு அருகே இருக்கும் மீஞ்சூரில் தேவதானம் என்று ஒரு சிறிய கிராமம். இது வட ஸ்ரீரங்கம் என பெயர் பெற்றது. இங்கே பள்ளிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் ஸ்ரீ ரங்கநாதர் பெருமாள், ஸ்ரீரங்கத்தில் இருப்பவரை விட அரை அடி நீளம் அதிகமானவர். நெல் அளக்கும் மரக்காலை (படி போன்ற ஒரு பெரிய அளவு) தலைக்கு உயரமாக வைத்துக்கொண்டு ஆனந்தமாக சயனித்திருக்கிறார். தேவதானம் பெருமாள் ஆயிரம் வருஷங்களுக்கு மேலானவர் என்று சொல்கிறார்கள். பெருமாள் செய்த சேவைக்கு நன்றியாக தேவர்கள் சேர்ந்து அளித்த தானம் இந்த இடம்-தேவதானம். அறுவடை முடிந்து எல்லோருக்கும் நெல் அளந்து கொடுத்து களைத்து அளந்த மரக்கால் படியை தலைக்கு வைத்தவாறு பதினெட்டு அடி நீளத்தில் தரையிலிருந்து ஐந்தடி உயரத்தில் தரிசனம் தருகிறார்.
