This week at Microsoft Ignite technical conference it was not all work making Jack a dull boy. There were facilities within the venue, even musicians playing to take a break in between the hectic conference. The whole area around the venue was blocked for traffic and attendees could roam around CNN headquarters and the other buildings in the area. A former colleague of mine now lives in Atlanta and he took me home one of the days for a home made dinner; his house was in a beautiful neighbourhood with Chattahoochee river running in the back. Later we visited a local mall for some window shopping!

Thanks to this good guy Cordell Naylor I traced my lost iPad and got it back. You rock man! This week I am here in Atlanta attending Microsoft Ignite 2016 conference and yesterday evening I had misplaced my iPad somewhere in the venue and I realised it only after reaching my hotel. Immediately after that I turned lost mode ON for the device through Apple iCloud. As soon as I reached the venue today I approached the Microsoft help desk manned by Cordell. He didn’t have it in his lost and found desk, he called and checked with staff at other buildings…

Microsoft’s largest technical conference started today with 23,000 attendees. This is Microsoft’s annual technology conference called Ignite, a combination of many of individual events of the past including Management Summit, the Exchange, SharePoint and TechEd conferences.

Everywhere I see around in downtown Atlanta’s Philips Arena there are lots and lots of people. More than conference this looks like a mela or festival. Even though there was long lines due to security scans to enter the building there was smooth flow of people, great arrangements.

After seeing The wolf of Wall Street (2013) by Martin Scorsese I have been wanting to see his earlier gangster movies, today I watched Goodfellas (1990). Starring Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta & Joe Pesci it’s a cookie cutter gangster film told with Scorsese’s magic sauce. I liked the screen play being narrated from the protagonist Henry Hill’s (Ray Liotta) point of view, the opening line where he says “As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster” has become a guiding mantra for all gangster story writers in the last few decades. As a young boy Henry Hill begins to look up…
