Raw Rating

Heartin (2026) is a romantic comedy that has its heart in the right place, but offers little beyond that. I liked the first half for its grounded screenplay that unfolds at a relaxed pace. As the story moves towards an emotional love triangle, it simply drifts along and ends without much impact. Mangoidiots gives it a Raw rating and recommends it only for those looking for an unglamorous love story.

The film opens with some beautiful visuals of Jaipur. They are so well shot that they make you want to visit the city once again. Siva, played by Sanath, is a chef in a Tamil restaurant there. He is recovering from a failed relationship. He meets Sadana, played by debutant Emaya T. What role Sahitya, played by Madonna Sebastian, has in their lives forms the rest of the story.

I really liked the first half. Director Kishore Kumar has presented Siva and Sadana’s romance with warmth and realism. There are no artificial duets, glamorous scenes or dream songs. Just everyday moments that slowly bring the two together. Rajesh Murugesan’s music beautifully supports these scenes.

Sanath has done well in the lead role. He appears natural as an ordinary young man and is particularly good in the second half, where his character’s innocence comes through well. Emaya T is super impressive in her debut, especially in the scenes where she watches her love slowly slipping away. Supporting them is WhatsApp Mani as Siva’s friend. His character gets good screen time throughout the film, and he makes the most of it. Madonna Sebastian, however, has an underwritten role. Her character comes across as confused, and I was left wondering why she was in the film.

Overall, for a love triangle to work, the audience needs to remain uncertain about how it will end. Unfortunately, there is very little tension here, and the film falls flat as a result. If you are looking for a warm love story, watch the first half, step out for a snack, and return for the climax. The film itself is not long, running for just under two hours.
