After intensive campaigning for ten days, providing safety data from immediate family (and friends) recipients to the inter-family regulatory panel comprising her siblings, I managed to convince my 80-year-old mother to get vaccinated yesterday. On the suggestion of the panel-head (my uncle) I took her to the (Central) Government ESI Hospital, K.K.Nagar, Chennai. The COVISHIELD vaccine (we would’ve taken COVAXIN if offered, but we didn’t ask) was provided for free.

The block for vaccination drive is behind the main hospital – ESI Peripheral Hospital, KK Nagar, Chennai

Clear instructions were pasted on patients using blood thinners and for those who had earlier COVID infection
The process was super easy (just carry AADHAAR card), the staff & nurses were friendly & sensitive to old people needs, the place is easy to access, is on the ground floor (just ten feet from the parking area) and has a ramp to walk easily/wheel-chair, ample parking facilities, well-ventilated. They start vaccinating at 9 AM, we were there at 8:45 AM, got vaccinated at 9:30 AM and left after 30 minutes of observation (wait).

Waiting area, clean, spacious and airy – only a few feet from the curb side

Open space opposite the block
My hearty thanks to the staff at Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Peripheral Hospital, K.K.Nagar, Chennai.
