70th Birthday of my alma mater’s correspondent
This evening was one of the happiest for me. We were at the dinner to celebrate the 70th Birthday of my school’s correspondent Mrs BKK Pillai – when I went to wish her and seek her blessings, she vividly remembered me due to my father’s firm (LIFCO) and told my wife on how good a “boy” I was during my school days. It is not often, you get to score a brownie with your better-half!
Thank You, (Mrs) Bagula aunty (that’s how we used to address our correspondent)!

When I took the above picture, I remembered of another picture I took with her almost three decades ago (seen below) – it was when I played her job role for a day at the school as part of Teachers Day in 1991 and the unwavering support and encouragement she extended to me – an 11th standard student!

I studied my entire schooling from the kindergarten to senior secondary level in Shrine Vailankanni Senior Secondary School, T.Nagar, Chennai. I believe the formative years of your life are the most important and here I learnt on how to organise events, run a soap bar stall, interviewing famous personalities, writing in journals, love for the Tamil language, acting in a play, debating, going to NCC camps and more. In short, the school had a great influence, almost all positive on how I turned out to be.

Lastly, seeing the below video produced to remember and celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the school made me more nostalgic!

Nostalgic memories…what momemts they are and will never come back. Myself also have a small connection to SVSSS in my school days. I do have similar memories and the “good boy” tag. I went into those memories after reading this. Thanks for taking me back by 2 decades for a short duration in the busy times now.
