Oh! Baby (2019) is a must-watch film to celebrate this festival season. All of us dream of becoming young again, in this film which has been adopted from the Korean film “Miss Granny”, that’s what happens. How a 70-year-grandmother “Baby”, played well by veteran Lakshmi, receives a Lord Ganesa talisman, that transforms her to a 24-year-old lady (Savitri) played brilliantly by Samantha. With her new-found youth, she gets to relive her life on her own terms with none of the constraints she had in her first life. Unfortunately, getting all that you had ever dreamed of can have unintended consequences…

Had Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019) been released a few years it would’ve made major ripples everywhere. The Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi’s film has everything going for it – an emotionally charged independence story, dazzling star cast starting with the one-and-only Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Tamannaah, Vijay Sethupathi, Jagapathi Babu, Sudeep, Anushka Shetty and others – unfortunately it falls just a bit short of becoming Tollywood’s Veerapandiya Kattabomman due to a pastel screenplay. The film’s story is about Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi) was one of the Polygars in Kurnool district, Rayalaseema Region of Andhra Pradesh in the 1840s. He rose up against…

Saaho (2019) is a grand film, resembling a Hollywood production, even Mumbai city comes out as rich-looking as Dubai.  The efforts of the entire team, particularly around the action sequences and special effects are clearly visible, and for that, the film deserves a mention. Prabhas has done his role well. There are plenty of other actors, including Arun Vijay, Mandira Bedi and Murali Sharma, unfortunately, none leave a mark. The heroine Shraddha Kapoor just managing to dazzle the audience with her bright costumes. What starts as a master-conman vs police flick, quickly descends into a hotchpotch screenplay with too many…

After the box office hit of Arjun Reddy (2017), any new release of Vijay Devarakonda was eagerly awaited by his fans in South India. Geetha Govindam (2018) is a recently released Rom-Com starring him and Rashmika Mandanna, and Vijay has hit this one too out of the park. I found the film to be a good entertainer. The songs including the theme song (Inkem Inkem Inkem Kaavaale) composed by Gopi Sundar were memorable.  I liked that there were no fights or songs by drunkards. The film has a single line story – the hero meets in real the girl he was dreaming, unfortunately, he gets…

Rangasthalam (2018) starring Ram Charan is a familiar village story – the innocent villager taking on the might of the villain, the local president, and getting justice using his brawn. Ram Charan as Chitti Babu has given a stunning performance, especially in the scenes where he has to exhibit different moods according to the scene and show in all of them his hearing difficulty.  The songs and dance sequences were enjoyable, except the customary dance by a half-clad lady surrounded by hundred drunk men. Chitti Babu rents motor pumps for local village fields, he falls in love with another resident Ramalakshmi (Samantha Akkineni).…
