On my return from Seattle to India in British Airways I watched this movie “Source Code (2011)”, Directed by Duncan Jones. The movie is starred by Jake Gyllenhaal who was earlier in the Prince of Persia and did all the fabulous stunts there, here too he has done a fine performance on the action sequences. [Spoiler_Alert] Source Code is about a US Military secret mission of using last 8 minutes of memory stored in a dead man’s brain and travelling to multiple timelines in that. In the movie this is used to find the bomber in a Chicago commuter train.…

I am not big into fiction reading and so I haven’t read any of the popular Science Fiction books. Recently while listening to famous Technology Podcast (which I love and listen every week while driving) “This week in Tech” by Leo Laporte in few episodes had Jerry Pournelle participate. I learned that Pournelle has written many Science Fiction novels and “The Mote in God’s Eye” which he co-authored with Larry Niven is a classic. So I got curious and picked up this book to read. For initial few pages, I was not sure whether I will like the book and…

Didn’t want to get in the mad rush, pay any premium and watch this movie in the early days of release. So nearly after a month I booked online and went for this movie today at Inox, Chennai. Had limited expectation about this much-talked about movie of the decade. Overall, the movie is a bold attempt for Tamil (Indian) Movies & enjoyable. Rajni has performed well, he rocks on the Villain Robot scenes. Unlike in Raavanan, Aishwarya Rai looks beautiful (again) in this movie and is gorgeous in the songs.  Anyone having read (Late) Sujatha’s novels like En Iniya Endhira…

I noticed in the US Consulate (Chennai) FaceBook page they are showing in Consulate Library as part of their Saturday Matinee the movie “Abyss” by Titanic & Avatar fame James Cameron.  I was not sure whether it will be worth the effort to go for it – there may be too much crowd and long waiting (as the show is free for all), painful security restrictions at the consulate gates. In the end it was all easy. I went in about 45 minutes before the show, spent the time in their well-furnished library reading books, then went to the auditorium…

I was trying to get tickets to this movie in Satyam Cinemas for few weeks now, few days back I managed to book for today’s 11:30AM show.  “Avatar” the movie was awesome and the 3D effects were not force-fitted, so they blended naturally into the scenes. The concept of a new world, a new planet the “Pandora” is very convincing and thought-provoking, so I was not surprised when I found that there was a Wikipedia for Pandora called “Pandora Pedia” Great job by James Cameron and his team. Congratulations! Update 6.Sep.2010: Today I went to the Special Edition of this…
