Recently, I was back at Pumpkin Tales, Alwarpet in Chennai for breakfast. A year ago, I had their “Vegan Breakfast Platter” and loved it. So I went back to re-experience it. I am a vegetarian, so this item was a bit of a different experience for me. And I wanted to try it again. The menu will say vegan, yet the sausage will look convincingly like meat, and the scrambled tofu will look exactly like scrambled eggs. This time too, I double-checked with the staff to make sure there are no meat or eggs on my plate.

The platter had vegan sausage, scrambled tofu, avocado, breakfast salad, fruit slices and sourdough toast. All plant-based. After eating, I felt light and, surprisingly for a light meal, felt satisfied as well. I did not miss the usual ghee and butter suspects. Recommended if you are in the mood for a change in your breakfast.
