As a proud Chennaiite, there’s something special about seeing our city’s airport from a different perspective. Recently, I found myself at the Aerohub Parking Complex at Chennai Airport, and I couldn’t resist capturing a few shots of the tarmac and terminals from up high. The airport, bathed in the light of a cloudy sky, looked surprisingly majestic—a view that often goes unnoticed amidst the daily hustle.

Chennai Airport has always been a topic of discussion, especially when compared to the glitzy, privately-owned airports in other Indian metros. It’s no secret that our airport, being government-owned, has faced its share of maintenance issues over the years. The falling glass panels, the occasional leaks, and the constant construction have all been points of frustration for both frequent flyers and first-time visitors alike. And then there’s the parking—a labyrinth of changing rules and pathways that often leaves you feeling like you’re in a real-life maze, just trying to get in or out. Even today, as I navigated the chaos of the parking lot, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all. The pathways seemed to change with every visit, making you wonder if you’d somehow taken a wrong turn in the time it took to park your car. But despite the confusion, there was something reassuring about that familiar madness—it’s all part of the Chennai airport experience.

However, looking out over the tarmac from the top of the Aerohub, I felt a sense of pride. Despite its flaws, this airport has been a gateway for millions, connecting Chennai to the world. The view from the top reminds you that beneath all the imperfections, there’s a beauty in our city’s airport that’s often overlooked. Maybe it’s the way the runways stretch out against the backdrop of the sky, or perhaps it’s the sight of planes taking off and landing, each carrying stories from afar.
