Ashok Selvan‘s Sabha Nayagan is a delightful journey through the tumultuous yet endearing world of school and college romance. Dialogues were crisp and relatable. The first half was enjoyable, the second half was a bit drag. In recognition of its charming narrative and good performances, Mangoidiots gives the film a ‘Ripe’ rating, a testament to its enjoyable and engaging storytelling.

The film takes us through Saba’s endearing, albeit unsuccessful, attempts at finding love. His encounters with Esha, Riya, and Megha bring a whirlwind of emotions, portrayed effectively by Karthika Muraleedharan, Chandini Chowdary, and Megha Akash, respectively. Each actress brings a unique charm to their role, complementing Ashok Selvan’s performance beautifully. The chemistry between Selvan and his co-stars is palpable, keeping viewers invested in each of Saba’s romantic adventures. A special mention must be made of Arun Kumar‘s portrayal of S S Karthik, Saba’s friend. In a refreshing departure from typical sidekick roles in Tamil cinema, Kumar’s performance adds a layer of depth and realism to the narrative.

A tighter focus and a bit more attention to detail in the second half could have propelled “Sabha Nayagan” into the realm of unforgettable romantic comedies.
