If you are a vegetarian traveller who is flying out of the newly opened Chennai International Airport Terminal 2, you might be wondering where to find some good food options. You might have noticed Idli dot com, which is the only vegetarian choice on the left side of the terminal, as you clear immigration and go down to the gates. While Idli dot com serves decent food, the varieties are limited and the prices are high.
But don’t worry, there is a hidden gem that you can discover if you look carefully. On the opposite side of Idli dot com, at the far end of the terminal, near the currently only functional restrooms, you will find a newly opened A2B (Adyar Ananda Bhavan) outlet. A2B is a famous chain of vegetarian restaurants in Tamil Nadu, known for their delicious and authentic South Indian cuisine. The A2B outlet at the airport is tucked behind columns, and not easily visible, so you need to go looking for it. But once you find it, you will be rewarded with fresh from the stove, different varieties of hot dosai, onsite made (I think) chutneys & sambar, and many other dishes. And don’t forget to try their piping hot and strong filter coffee, which will energize you for your flight. The food is tasty, fresh, and reasonably priced.
Pricing comparison: At Idli dot com, one plate of Idli.com and one plate of Kerala Parotta was INR 675, at A2B one plate of Masala Dosai and one filter coffee was INR 470.
So, next time you are at Chennai International Airport Terminal 2, don’t settle for Idli dot com. Go and explore the A2B outlet, and enjoy a satisfying vegetarian meal. And if you liked this tip, please like and share this blog post.
