Yesterday, I was craving something different for dinner. And, that’s why I found myself at the new Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant that opened up on Dr Radhakrishnan Salai, Chennai, Opposite CSI Kalyani Hospital. This establishment boasts a cafe on the first floor and a restaurant on the second, offering ample seating and convenient and adequate parking.

While Mediterranean cuisine is often associated with meaty delights, vegetarians need not fret. The Law Cafe with Diwaniya caters to herbivores with a selection of half a dozen vegetarian dishes. I opted for their Falafel, a classic dish of deep-fried chickpea patties; Mixed Veg Pide, a Turkish pizza topped with a medley of vegetables; and a Mango Colada, a refreshing concoction of mango flavours and creamy coconut milk.

The food was cooked to perfection, however, for my palate, it lacked a bit of hotness. Perhaps a dash of extra seasoning (they don’t serve any) or a hint of spice would have elevated the dishes. Despite the long time it took to serve each dish, the overall meal was reasonably priced, costing a mere ₹1000 (USD 12) inclusive of taxes. So, if you’re seeking a taste of the Mediterranean without breaking the bank, The Law Cafe with Diwaniya is worth a visit.
