After my brief visit to Rameswaram, I am staying for two days in Madurai. Today, I went to Madurai Meenakshi Temple. Due to security reasons, the temple authorities don’t allow any electronics including smartphones inside the premises, so I couldn’t take any pictures. One of the most famous Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu, Sri Meenakshi Sundareshwarar Temple [மதுரை மீனாட்சி சுந்தரேசுவரர் கோயில்] in Madurai is dedicated to the goddess Meenakshi, a form of Parvati, and her consort, Sundareshwarar, a form of Shiva.
Wikipedia says “Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple was built by Pandayan Emperor Sadayavarman Kulasekaran I (1190 CE–1205 CE)”.
