Lot was riding on Vijay Antony’s shoulders to repeat the block buster hit of Pichaikkaran (2016); by going with an uncommon story he has proven once again that big budgets and stars are not needed to make an interesting film.

Saithan (2016) is NOT a supernatural or a ghost film, it’s a psychological crime thriller which becomes obvious in the first 30 minutes. The story is an odd stitch of Anegan (2015) & Enakkul Oruvan (1984) done with a thread from Isai (2015). Director Pradeep Krishnamoorthy has succeeded in maintaining the suspense for longer than expected and has ensured he has a screenplay that works within the capabilities of the actor in Vijay Antony. Vijay Antony is impressive in his period makeup as a school teacher; as the music compose he has given a likable song with “Ladukio” and the theme music “Jayalakshmi”Arundathi Nair as the heroine has a limited role which she has delivered well.

Saithan is a good movie to begin the last month of the year.
