Though Lagaan (2001) was a very popular Hindi movie that came early this decade, I hadn’t seen it till today. I had bought the collector’s edition of the DVD a few years back, but it has been sleeping in my CD rack. Today with the rains in Chennai, I was not able to go out, so I watched this movie. I should’ve seen this long time back!
This was a brilliant movie, a fine example of how to take an engaging sports-genre film with Indianness and patriotism thrown in. Aamir Khan has given an exemplary performance.
Initially, I was worried about how I will sit through for a Three-and-Half hour movie, but the director & actors keep the interest level high all the time. The other significant things that impress you are the engaging background score by A.R.Rahman, the choreography and the dialogues were top-notch too.

Update on 2018: The film is available on Netflix India.
