    Tenet (2020)

Tenet (2020) was the most talked-about film of 2020 for two reasons: it was the first big-budget movie to get released during the pandemic and second was many viewers had a problem understanding the film, more often than the previous films by the famous Christopher Nolan. This is a science-fiction film involving saving the world from complete annihilation by a bad actor who gets help from the future. I liked the film but it is certainly not as intriguing as Mr Nolan‘s previous films like The Prestige (2006) or Inception (2010) or Interstellar (2014) or Dunkirk (2017). Tenet gets a mangoidiots rating of ‘Raw’ and is available on Amazon Prime…

    The Man from Earth (2007)

Let us do a thought experiment, what if a human can live forever, not defying death in total but someone who doesn’t fall sick from everyday illness, diseases and not age at all. It gets a mangoidiots rating of ‘Ripe’.…

    Hot Tub Time Machine (2010)

When our life hits a low point we all wish we can go back in time and redo our actions differently hoping for a better outcome – but what happens if you get such a chance and can’t change a thing? If you take this interesting premise and make a typical Hollywood comedy involving a time machine, it will result in Hot Tub Time Machine (2010).  The movie had a number of laughable moments, but the screenplay could’ve been a lot better and gets a Mangoidiots rating of ‘Raw’.  It was certainly better than Adam Sandler’s Click (2006). Three friends Adam, Nick and Violator, in their middle-ages are leading a…

    Space Sweepers (2021)

Space Sweepers (2021) is a Korean science fiction film, which gets a MangoIdiots rating of “Raw”. The plot is about how a bunch of misfits, space junk scavengers unknowingly get involved in saving the earth from complete destruction. They take on the most powerful and the greatest inventor in the universe, who is the owner of the largest corporation. The film was well-taken but fails to impress you as everything feels like you have already watched in earlier films on this genre of a dystopian world. It is available on Netflix. The lead actors playing the roles of Tae-ho, Captain Jang, Robot Bubs & Tiger Park have done their roles…

    Save Yourselves! (2020)

Save Yourselves! (2020) is a science-fiction comedy film that had a familiar story yet charming due to its simplicity and fine acting by the lead couple. It is available on Kanopy. Su & Jack are a couple who are addicted to their phones. One day midway through lovemaking they stop and turn their attention to their phones. Realizing their hopelessness they decide to go for a disconnected week to the woods. Everything starts well in their friend’s lovely cabin when they start noticing something amiss.
