Last week, I had the opportunity to visit Sholinganalur for a couple of days and decided to try out Tiffin Shastra for lunch on both occasions. This place offers affordable, self-service Udupi-style food, making it a convenient option for a quick meal.

Day 1: Mini Combo Rice

On the first day, I opted for the Mini Combo Rice priced at ₹120. This combo included:
– Puliyotharai
– Sambar Rice
– Curd Rice
– Papads
– Puri with Kurma

The service was friendly, and the food, though bland, was acceptable for the price. I would’ve liked to see a poriyal (sautéed, vegetable side dish). It provided a filling meal that was easy on the wallet & was served fast.

Day 2: Vegetable Biryani and Curd Rice

The next day, I decided to try something different and ordered Vegetable Biryani and Curd Rice separately, each costing ₹70. The portion sizes were decent, and the taste was consistent with the previous day – nothing extraordinary but good enough for a quick and affordable lunch.

Conclusion

Overall, Tiffin Shastra offers a budget-friendly dining experience with a variety of options. While the food may not be the most flavorful, the friendly service and reasonable prices make it a worthwhile choice if you’re in the Sholinganalur area.

Feel free to share your experiences if you’ve visited Tiffin Shastra or have any recommendations for similar eateries in Chennai!
