Over the years, Zaitoon Signature by Valluvar Kottam High Road has made a name for itself with its Ramadan Nights Buffet. It’s a hit among Chennai food lovers. This time around, the place was buzzing with diners, so my friends and I headed to their quieter upstairs restaurant. Being vegetarian, I appreciated the a la carte menu here — it has a neat selection of veggie dishes along with numerous non-vegetarian delights.
Service was slow, no surprise given the crowd, and we waited a good hour for our meal. But good things come to those who wait, right? My dinner was a mix of tastes and textures: crunchy fried pita with smooth hummus, a comforting mushroom soup, crispy paneer, soft Kerala parotta, and appam with a tasty Mushroom Lazeez masala. I wrapped up with a Rich Brand Falooda — a sweet treat to end the night. Yes, service was slow, but with great company and food, I hardly noticed the time. Zaitoon proved to be a great spot for those special Ramadan eats.
