At 40 minutes of running time, Copy (2018) on Disney+ Hotstar is a short feature film. The film follows the story of a man who rents a lookalike robot of himself to “live” with his wife while he is having an affair. It explores effectively the interpersonal dynamics of a couple who don’t love each other. Though the making could’ve been better, the film hits the right chord with its focus. It gets a Ripe rating from mangoidiots.

Surveen Chawla, who is known for her role in the TV series Decoupled with Madhavan, plays the lead couple with Vikrant Massey. Even though it is a science fiction mystery film, it does not feature any high-tech wizardry or scientific jargon, the only tech we see is a fingerprint authentication screen in a mobile app. The movie answers in its way, on a what-if scenario when you can have a robot that can do ‘everything’ like you. The climax is thought-provoking and leaves viewers with a lot to think about the nature of relationships.
