Release of the book – The Indian Education System
Today evening saw the release of an important book for higher education in India. Titled “The Indian Education System, From Greater Order to Greater Disorder“. Authored by our beloved (Late) Prof. M Anandakrishnan, a Padma Shri awardee and his mentee & my friend Mr Nedunchezhian Dhamotharan. The book is the result of five years of hard work by both the authors and continued for the last year by the latter. Congratulations to Nedunchenzhian for his perseverance in seeing the book released in the best fashion and in celebration of Professor’s 94th birthday today.

One data everyone on stage including Hon’ble Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru Palanivel Thiaga Rajan proudly quoted was the Gross Enrolment Ration in Higher education for Tamil Nadu is 51.4%, the second-highest in the country. A smaller state Sikkim has the highest at 75.8%. Now that the numbers (quantity) are getting addressed in Tamil Nadu, it was time to focus and better quality was also mentioned. I am sure this book will be a treasure for academicians and policymakers involved in higher education planning.
