Jathi Ratnalu (2021) is a Telugu comedy that tickles you. It is about three young men, friends, from a small town in Telangana coming to Hyderabad to make it big, instead, they get caught in a political conspiracy. The film had a weak screenplay, no logic whatsoever & no heroism, yet you are left feeling good at the end. For being a joyous film that makes you laugh in many places, it gets a Mangoidiots rating of ‘Raw’. Available on Amazon Prime Video.
Naveen Polishetty as Jogipet Srikanth, Priyadarshi as Sekhar, Rahul Ramakrishna (from Arjun Reddy) as Ravi fit perfectly to the role of the three close friends who are simple, cheerful and honest guys. Faria Abdullah as Chitti was your typical apartment girl, she has done the role well.
The three friends going to a real prison and taking group selfies posing in real prisoner clothes were hilarious. The courtroom scenes with Brahmanandam as the judge were totally nonsensible yet hilarious. Watch this film if you want to laugh over an evening, don’t expect anything more.
In the flashback sequence, there is a love song (Almost PAN India) between Naveen and Keerthy Suresh that contains lyrics in Hindi & Tamil apart from Telugu. I have seen this trend in Malayalam films where they include often Tamil or sometimes Hindi lyrics in their songs. In European films, or Portuguese & Spanish from South American, or even Korean & Chinese films I have seen English songs being featured often. These bring variety and I like the trend, happy to see it happening in Indian films now and I wish Tamil films too do this once in a while.
