    Moon (2009)

Moon (2009) is a Sci-Fi directed by Duncan Jones: this is his directorial debut, later he went on to make movies like Source Code (2011), a movie I liked. The story is about the experiences of Sam Bell, an onsite engineer staying alone in the moon managing the heavy equipment used to extract and ship Helium-3 to earth. The film was a good watch, and the fans of this genre (Science Fiction) will like it but not others. Near the end of his 3-year contract with the company, with just weeks to go for his scheduled return to home, Sam Bell (played by Sam Rockwell) discovers a life-threatening secret that the…

    Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989)

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is a typical time travel film with an unoriginal plot but was super successful. Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) are boneheaded high school students, one day when they are struggling with their history report, a person from the future comes and gives them a time travel machine (what else, but a phone booth). They travel around the world to bring back various historical figures with them from the past to present on stage. In the climax, we are shown a lame excuse on why the people from the future want to help them. The film was fun to watch if you don’t think about…

    Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

Featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator has been one of the popular Sci-Fi franchises of the 80s and the 90s. Last year, when it got released the latest in the series – Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) didn’t get great reviews, so I watched it only now and it turned out to be an average affair. It is available on Disney+ Hotstar. The movie brings no ‘fresh’ ideas, so it was not as much fun as Terminator 2 (1991) or Terminator (1984). Coming only in the second half as a retiree living a family life, Arnold Schwarzenegger has got a limited scope and action in the film, still, it was a delight to…

    TV Show Review

    Upload (TV Series)

Upload (TV Series) is the new sci-fi available on Amazon. The story revolves around Nathan (Robbie Amell) who dies in a car accident and gets his consciousness uploaded to a virtual resort where he can live for eternity and connect with the external world. There was little original in the show, feels like an extended version of the episode of “San Junipero” from the famous Black Mirror, and, that makes the show less engaging. There were many logic gaps which were not covered at all: Why people living in the Upload can’t work when they can actually eat, use the bathroom and so on? When residents of the Upload can…

    Movie Review

    Lucy (2014)

Lucy (2014) was a french sci-fi that was a thrilling watch.  Director Luc Besson has presented skillfully a superhero story as a sci-fi by interspersing brain science throughout, and, we are able to thoroughly enjoy it. This movie is a must-watch just for Scarlett Johansson. It is about a lady named “Lucy” gaining superhuman skills due to an accidental drug infusion, and, how she uses to identify and destroy a powerful international drug mafia. In introduction sequence, Lucy unknowingly gets caught by the gang of a ruthless drug lord, and we see a remarkable performance from Scarlett Johansson, when she cries and pleads to him helplessly. From there, within minutes,…
