Sometimes, you just need a simple movie to relax. Recently, I found Family Switch (2023) on Netflix, and it was just right for a casual watch. The story revolves around parents and their kids swapping bodies due to an unexpected celestial event. Even though the plot sounds absurd, the enjoyable acting and tight screenplay made it fun to watch. Mangoidiots rates it as Raw.

The Walkers are a regular family of five living in Los Angeles. Bill Walker (Ed Helms) is a music teacher at a local school, and his wife Jess (Jennifer Garner) is a successful architect working on an important project. They have three children: CC, a teen applying for a soccer scholarship; Wyatt, the bright kid in the family; and little Miles, their toddler. Of course, they also have an adorable family dog.

The chaos begins when the family visits a local planetarium to witness a rare celestial phenomenon. After a strange flash, father Bill swaps bodies with son Wyatt, while mother Jess exchanges with daughter CC. In the most amusing twist, the toddler and the dog swap places, too. The next day becomes an entertaining mess as they try to live each other’s lives in swapped bodies.

The funniest part for me was definitely the toddler and dog switch, and I wish the filmmakers had explored this a bit more. Most of the spotlight was on the mother-daughter duo, played wonderfully by Jennifer Garner and Emma Myers. Ed Helms and Brady Noon, as the father-son pair, were equally enjoyable in their roles.

Overall, Family Switch is an easy-going comedy that’s perfect for a relaxed evening at home.
