Immortal (2026), Kayadu Lohar carries the film

Immortal (2026), starring G V Prakash and Kayadu Lohar, is a horror film with a difference. The script stays tightly focused on the lead pair, and that keeps us engaged for most of the runtime. Unfortunately, the second half turns tiring, because by then we have already guessed where the climax is headed. Mangoidiots gives the film a Raw.

Magi, played by G V Prakash, is a printing press worker looking for a place to rent. He is pleasantly surprised to find a shared room in a super luxury apartment for a pittance. His luck holds out, as he ends up sharing the apartment with its owner, an attractive young woman named Sindhu, played by Kayadu Lohar. He moves in right away, without knowing the secrets behind the apartment or Sindhu. What follows is the story.

The film’s biggest strength is undoubtedly Kayadu Lohar. She gets a rare chance to show what she can do beyond her striking looks, and she makes the most of it. She carries the film with a calm, composed demeanour, while G V Prakash is reduced to almost a supporting role. Apart from the lead pair, the film has only three other named characters, and they too fade into the background. Music by Sam C S works fine, but it could have suited this genre better.

The screenplay moves well until Magi gets trapped. After that, it struggles to find its rhythm, and that costs the film what should have been a thrilling experience. In a film of this genre, the audience should feel their heart racing and worry for the hero’s life. Here, neither happens.

Overall, if you can look past the logic gaps and the slow screenplay, Immortal offers a different take on the trapped house genre, along with a good performance from Kayadu Lohar.
