As I stepped into Tattvaloka on Eldams Road, Chennai, I was greeted not by the usual fanfare of a music launch, but by an atmosphere so serene it could have been bottled and sold as an antidote to Monday blues. My dear friend and collegemate, Pravin Shekar, had outdone himself this time. Known for his outlier marketing strategies, he had teamed up with the percussion maestro, Drums Mr Murali, to produce a music album that promised to be the soundtrack of serenity—”ZENgover.”

The evening was a symphony of simplicity. No VIPs, no endless speeches—just pure, unadulterated music. Pravin did manage to hog the mic for a few minutes, but we forgave him. After all, he was the mastermind behind this auditory masterpiece. His brief interlude was a small price to pay for the tranquillity that followed.

As the first notes of the album filled the room, I found myself mentally transported to the banks of the Ganges, the spiritual heart of Rishikesh, and other mystical locales. Each of the six tracks, lasting a blissful 3 to 4 minutes, was a journey in itself. The music was so immersive that I half-expected to open my eyes and find myself in a yoga pose.

The star of the evening, however, was Mr Murali’s hand drum. Handmade in Sweden, it produced rhythms so exquisite that they seemed to dance in the air, weaving a tapestry of sound that was both intricate and soothing. It was as if the drum had a soul of its own, speaking a language of peace and calm.
