Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja (2019) is a comedy film that wants to convey a serious message – of the general apathy in the society we are living today. In the attempt to portray the common man in his lead characters, the debut director Karthik Venugopalan has compromised on the quality of film making. While he has done well on not being cinematic, he has fallen short in getting the screenplay transition from being a light entertainment to a purposeful state especially near the climax. As a result, the film comes as a farce.
The full house in S2 Theyagaraja theatre erupted in claps and whistle for the entry scene of the real-world politician turned actor Nanjil Sampath. Heroine Shirin Kanchwala, didn’t have much of a role, but she comes out fine. Due to the comedy (non-acting) by Youtubers Rio Raj and RJ Vigneshkanth and some realistic dialogues, the film was watchable and funny in a few scenes. If the last line interests you, go for the film.
