Chef (2014)

Chef (2014) is a feel-good film that you should watch with your kids. It’s about a talented chef unable to express his creativity, getting fired by the restaurant owner after a virtual fight with a food critic. Starting with a clean slate, he goes onto setting up a food truck and drives it across the country, and, becoming an instant celebrity thanks to some brilliant viral marketing by his 10-year son.

Jon Favreau has given a formidable performance as a chef. Any real-life chef will tell you, that the job is not for the faint-hearted, as restaurant kitchens are the places where you need to be artistic, yet operationally skilful to avoid waste and a master manager in work allocation – to the extent possible Jon Favreau manages to exhibit most of these traits in his character on screen. Matching him was the young star Emjay Anthony, who comes as the 10-year son of the chef, a character which is yearning for his father’s love.

Jon Favreau as Carl Casper, Emjay Anthony as Percy, and, Sofía Vergara as Inez – Chef (2014)

This film is available on Netflix India.
