Hey Sinamika (2022) starring Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal, directed by Dance master Brinda is a married-couple quarrel told in a simplistic manner. The lead actors have done a good job, but I felt there was a lack of sufficient chemistry between Dulquer and Aditi Rao that made it difficult for us to relate to their characters. The film is available on Netflix and gets Mangoidiots Raw rating.

Yaazhan (Dulquer Salmaan) is a young man with strong principles who falls in love and marries Mouna (Aditi Rao Hydari). The couple is happy, but the overflowing love of Yaazhan suffocates Mouna, who is free-spirited. She approaches a psychologist Dr Malarvizhi (Kajal Aggarwal) to help her to make Yaazhan separate from her – but things take a different turn. Do the couple stay together is the remainder of the story.

The climax scene lighting was superb, and so was the overall cinematography by Preetha Jayaraman. I am not a fan of Aditi Rao, she appears to be stolid, but in the climax scene where she cries and pleads, she outpours emotions and carries the audience with her. For some reason, with a long blouse, Kajal Aggarwal was shown older than Aditi Rao & Dulquer. The Radio compèring scenes were interesting.

In her debut, Brinda master has shown a lot of promise as a director. With a smarter screenplay, the movie could’ve turned out to be a lot better.
