I watched Inga Naan Thaan Kingu (2024) on Amazon Prime Video. It starts off with a decent premise—something you can expect from a Santhanam film. Soon, it veers into a confusing mess of scenes that try to be funny but don’t quite land. The second half gives the team another shot to fix things, but sadly, that opportunity is wasted too. Mangoidiots rating: Rotten.

Santhanam plays Vetrivel, a bachelor with no family who is looking to get married. A marriage broker fixes his alliance with the daughter of a rich zamindar. So far, so good. This setup could’ve led to an interesting mix of emotions and humour. Instead, the screenplay suddenly drags us into a murder angle and even terrorist plots, without tying up the earlier threads.

Vivek Prasanna appears in a double role. This again had potential for clever storytelling. But even that is lost in a screenplay that has newlyweds, neighbours, and random people all involved in hiding, stealing a dead body, with no sense or realism. I found myself skipping several scenes, just to reach the climax.

Priyalaya, in her debut, plays Thenmozhi, the wife of Vetrivel. She does well, and I wish her role had allowed for more drama or romance. Vivek Prasanna handles the double roles neatly—especially the one as the dead body, which is not easy to pull off! Thambi Ramaiah plays his usual familiar character well. Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Manobala, and Lollu Sabha Maaran are all there, but sadly given forgettable parts.

Overall, the film had moments where it could’ve taken a better route, but chose not to.
