Many centuries ago, a king treasured an emerald stone (Maragadha Naanayam) of immense value. He loved it so much that he had it buried with him after his death. The king’s spirit guards the stone and kills anyone who dear to touch it. Over the years 132 people try to take the stone away and all of them are killed by a speeding truck. In the present day, two petty smugglers Senguttuvan (Aadhi) and Elango (Daniel Annie Pope) plan to steal the emerald stone without touching it. For doing that they seek the assistance of 3 friendly ghosts who possess 3 dead bodies. All 5 of them (2 living and 3 dead) go in search of the emerald. Meanwhile, a rival gang headed by the deadly don Twinkle Ramanathan (Anandaraj) keep chasing them.

The film has a simple plot but Director ARK Saravan keeps it interesting throughout. Nikki Galrani as Chanakaya, the love interest of Senguttuvan (Aadhi) has delivered a good performance bringing to life the body language of a rough ‘n’ tough hitman. Maragadha Naanayam (2017) is an enjoyable watch with comedy working in most places.
