Movie Review

Thalaivaa (2013)

This Vijay starring movie “Thalaivaa” had its own problems of getting released in Tamil Nadu, finally came to screen few weeks back. My son being a Vijay fan been wanting to see it and we went for it. Seeing the trailers I had no great expectation for the movie and it turned out to be a good state to walk in to the movie.

The story is an usual run of the mill don story. The initial sequences shot in Sydney Australia are breath of fresh air in terms of visuals in Tamil Cinema, Amala Paul in those sequences comes out beautiful with her big dark eyes. The first song “Tamil Pasanga” and the events around it are pretty naive and amateurish.

The scene were Suresh and Amala Paul turn out to be cops and arrest Satyaraj, though expected was an interesting twist to the otherwise flat movie. Similarly the final sequence where Vijay’s uncle turns out to be a partner with the bad guy was good too.

Santhanam’s comedy was enjoyable, nothing exceptional.
