Teddy (டெடி) is an action thriller featuring a teddy bear that’s alive as an important character along with Arya and Sayyeshaa in the lead roles. It gets a Mangoidiots rating of “Raw”. Available on Disney+ Hotstar.

Sayyeshaa, a college student helps a road accident victim and gets hurt, getting herself admitted to a private hospital, she disappears. Then a teddy bear comes into the life of Arya, a super-brilliant individual who can learn any topic in months and master it. How they solve an international crime network is the story.

The teddy bear animation has come out well, kudos to the team for that. Arya has done the action sequences well but looks aged. Sayyeshaa gets little screen time. The song “En Iniya Thanimaye” composed by D. Imman and sung by Sid Sriram was already a hit even before the release of the film, I liked the simple visualization too.

With a cute character like a Teddy bear and two comedians, Karunakaran and Sathish as the hero’s friends, the first half of the film could’ve been a comedy with the last hour for the action and crime bursting. Instead, solely being a thriller the movie wastes opportunity and becomes a drag beyond the interval. The villain character is left undefined and feels shallow – why does he have to do this crime cross-border when he could’ve done the same in Azerbaijan itself? Many many questions and logic errors.

Overall, an average film that could’ve been good with a better screenplay.
