Petromax (2019) is a cookie-cutter comedy-horror film. The film starts with an interesting twist, but immediately loses steam to just keep chugging along for a long time with mostly unimaginative characters and lazy situations. It is the last thirty minutes when the flashback runs there is some pace in the story, which saves the film and us, the audience.
An NRI (played by Prem) from Malaysia comes back to India to find his parents dead, saddened he tries to dispose of their old bungalow. Unfortunately, the house is haunted by four ghosts. To convince a prospective buyer, Prem organizes four people to stay in the house for a few days. What happens inside the house, why the ghosts don’t leave the house is the story.
Though Tamannah is the star of the film, her role was limited. Prem has bagged a bigger role and he has done it well. The second half was about Munishkanth, Kaali Venkat, Sathyan, and TSK. Yogi Babu has made a guest appearance.
