ently I saw Shankar‘s Nanban film. The movie is a remake of Aamir Khan starer 3 Idiots from Hindi, which itself is an adaption of Chetan Bhagat‘s Five Point Someone book. The book which I read first was good, I liked the Hindi version as 3 Idiots more in which I feel Aamir Khan has done a stellar performance along with Kareena Kapoor and R.Madhavan. Compared to that, the Tamil version has been mediocre, though Vijay, Jiiva & Srikanth have done their best and I expected more from Director Shankar, who in his defence felt it important to be true to the original rather than improve.
Ileana D’Cruz could have done the audience a service by not watching the Hindi original which would have saved her from mimicking Kareena at every frame. The veteran actor Sathyaraj has played his character well. The songs composed by Harris Jayaraj are good especially the 3 top songs “En Frienda Pola”, “Heartile Battery” & “Asku Laska”.
For some reason, my son loves the movie and the Senthil character played by Jiva more. He has seen the movie at least few times in the last few weeks.
