After watching Whatever works (2009) I was intrigued to watch the director’s earlier romantic comedy film made in the 1970s – Annie Hall (1977) starring Woody Allen. The story is about why the relationship between comedian Alvy Singer (Woody Allen) and Annie Hall (Diane Keaton) ended a year ago. The rest of the film is interesting flashbacks and recalls of past events including Alvy’s past marriages.

The self-obsessed, random narrative style should have felt very different to the audience in the 1970s. And that what makes the film still fresh when you watch it after 40 years. A must watch classic in the Romantic Comedy genre.
