For a long time this film was in my watchlist – Searching (2018). It is about Korean single-parent, David Kim (played by John Cho) living in San Jose, California on a desperate search of her daughter Margot Kim (played by Michelle La) gone missing. This is an interesting thriller that has quite a few unexpected twists including the climax.

The film starts with the Windows XP Wallpaper :-) Most of the film revolves around what’s on Kim’s and Margot’s computers. A very different narration style to what we have seen normally. Director Aneesh Chaganty has succeeded in keeping the screen play moving with regular updaes and twists, otherwise showing that much of messages, emails and webpages could’ve turned the film into a video tutorial. There is good amount of online properties and technologies shown too – Venmo payment, Online Webcasting, Tumblr, and others.

John Cho runs with the entire film on his own, showing the fear, the desperation, and the disappointment very well.

Available on Amazon Prime Video.
