In the last few years, the usage of Drones by CIA manned by staff sitting several thousands of miles away safely in America has come to symbol USA’s military might in modern day warfare. For these staff of CIA, it is anything but a regular day job, with the need to handle the emotional baggage of having played their part in killing people. Melissa McCarthy starring as Susan Cooper in Spy (2015), comes as one such CIA desk analyst, who is sitting in USA remotely guiding missions for field agents abroad.
I like the CBS comedy TV series Mike & Molly played by Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy, both of them are talented comedy actors. I learnt of Spy (2015) a movie starring Melissa McCarthy and getting 95% rating in Rotten Tomatoes, I know I have to see it, which I did today in Luxe Cinemas. Spy (2015) is a Pink Panther style comedy detective film.
Susan, the CIA desk analyst falls in a one-sided love with a super-agent Bradley Fine (played by Jude Law), who gets killed while going after a stolen nuke. With the enemy knowing details of every other field agent, Susan in a momentary impulse, volunteers to get into the field risking her life. Rest of the film is about the often-daring adventures she performs in saving the nuke from enemy hands. The movie in most part is fast paced with interesting twists and turns, sprinkled with humours scenes by Melissa. Overall, a fun movie to watch.
