Sri Lanka – Travel Diary
Below are links to the individual blog posts with pictures and details of my visits to Sri Lanka’s Colombo & Kandy. Colombo is the capital and the largest city of Sri Lanka. Kandy is built around the scenic Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake) and is known for having the sacred Buddhist site of the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine.

Colombo Sightseeing in 2010
On another invitation from Microsoft Sri Lanka, I was in Colombo in 2010 presenting at the Tech Ed 2010 Sri Lanka. In Colombo (blog), we visited the Dutch Reform Anglican Church (Galle), Gangaramaya temple, and the Independence Memorial Hall.

From Colombo, on the way during a day trip to Kandy, we stopped at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, which houses one of the largest herds of captive elephants in the world.

After Pinnawala we went to Kandy, the city famous for having The Temple of Tooth Relic (detailed blog). Kandy was the historic capital of Sri Lanka and is at an elevation of 1500 feet above sea level.
Royal Botanical gardens, Peradeniya
The next stop was the beautiful Royal Botanical gardens, Peradeniya (detailed blog). From the entrance the garden is unmistakably British.
