Access your phone from your Windows 10 PC
Today’s Windows tip. Apple (Mac/iPhone) owners please look elsewhere. If you are using a PC running Windows 10 (upgrade for free to the latest build easily) and own a modern Android especially a Samsung phone (most of the Galaxy series sold in the last few years) then you will thank me for this tip. The list of supported Android phones is here. On your PC, look for a free app from Microsoft that comes with Windows 10 called “Your Phone”. Once you have it set up (instructions from Microsoft & from Samsung), you can stop picking up your phone every time when a notification alert appears in your phone, to…

Windows 11 Insider Preview running in a virtual machine
Tip 1: Many manufacturers are now listing which of their machines will upgrade to Windows 11, this article from Windows Central provides links to Asus, MSI & Gigabyte devices and motherboards that will get the upgrade. I checked and my desktop motherboard from Asus (TUF B450M-Pro) is eligible! Tip 2: Windows 11 requires TPM, a security feature, to be enabled in your PC. Bought Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard from the USA
I have written quite a few times here about my love for the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard and mouse, I have been using the various models for over 15 years. I am a fast three-finger typist, so it annoys me when a keyboard lags behind my keypress…

Download a copy of your social media data as a backup
A Monday morning tip. If you are active on Social Media and you have been posting a lot, a good idea will be to download all your data as a backup from #Twitter, #Facebook & #Google. These services make it easy to download your data across their services. You request the data, through the services settings page and they will email you once the compressed file containing all your data (posts, likes, images, etc.) is ready. In the email, you will find a link to download the actual file. Remember, the file size can be huge, so do this on a broadband connection. By posting this, I am not implying…

Engineers and Documentation – Random thought
Today I had this thought and I am penning it down immediately here. Later, I will try and expand on this. Thanks. Fact: #Engineers don’t like to write #documentation. Probable reasons: No one reads them or gives a ‘like’ for a good one. Only the code matters (it runs) & brings $$$. Today, source #code have become self-explanatory (?). Possible Solution: #ArtificalIntelligence to analyse & generate tutorial videos :-)
