    Thunder Force (2021)

Thunder Force (2021) is a sci-fi comedy that you wish was never made. It is about two ladies enhanced scientifically with superpowers who try to save the city of Chicago from Miscreants, who are sociopaths transformed by cosmic rays to acquire destructive powers. Taylor Mosby impresses us as the young brilliant scientist. With her chubby and smiling appearance, Melissa McCarthy can make the most non-sensical comedies to be fun and enjoyable. In this, she tries her best but the screenplay by Ben Falcone offers her no help. Octavia Spencer had given memorable performances in movies like Hidden Figures (2016), and The Shape of Water (2017), but has got a poor one…

    Tammy (2014)

Tammy (2014) starring Melissa McCarthy is supposed to be a road comedy, but it was a long train-wreck. Melissa‘s later movies like Spy (2015), The Boss (2016) were better than this one. Tammy is available on Netflix. Tammy Banks (Melissa McCarthy) is a loser and whiner.  One day, she loses her job and finds her husband cheating. To find her footing she goes on a road trip with her grandma, who finances the trip. A perfect setting that could’ve been used to narrate humorous situations that are tasty, instead Director Ben Falcone serves us ice-cold leftovers. Till the credit roll, everything goes bad for the odd pair of grandma &…

    Superintelligence (2020)

Superintelligence (2020) is a romantic comedy that is wrapped around a sci-fi premise. I liked the film due to Melissa McCarthy who like from her acting in Mike & Molly (2010) TV show, and then in The Boss (2016) and Spy (2015). At the same time, it may not work for everyone as there was nothing new and the movie was a ‘genie’ type fantasy film than a sci-fi. Carol Peters (Melissa McCarthy) was a hard-working corporate executive, who is now jobless and looking for a job that can combine work with her interest in helping the needy. In one of the job interviews, she is noticed by a computer…

    The Boss (2016)

The Boss (2016) is a below average comedy film starring two actresses I enjoy watching – the talented Melissa McCarthy (from Mike and Molly) and lovely Kristen Bell (from The Good Place). Michelle Darnell is a business leader who is rude and arrogant to everyone, she goes to prison for insider trading, on her release she is without a place to stay or any money, as all her assets have been attached by SEC. Her former secretary Claire and her daughter Rachel takes Michelle into their house out of kindness. The three together start a new business and make it big, to be seen taken it all away by a bad guy. Did they get…

    Mike & Molly (2010)

Usually, in Movies & TV, we see Size “0” heroines & Six pack heroes, for a change this sitcom Mike and Molly (2010-16) has a lead pair who are in plus size. The show has won twice Primetime Emmy Awards and nominated for many years. It is about Mike Biggs (played by Billy Gardell) who is a police officer and Molly Flynn (played by Melissa McCarthy) who is a school teacher and a writer. I liked the series of 6 seasons, as each episode can be enjoyed individually and there is hardly any larger plot or complex characters to remember. The plots are mostly about family dynamics, love and affection between the lead couple…
