46th Chennai Book Fair 2023
Aldous Huxley Brave New World – A graphic novel by Fred Fordham

Check them, I have given extensive coverage with photographs of many of the books and the stalls exhibited each year. Last year 2021, I missed due to the pandemic. For those who are not in Chennai and will miss out on the annual Chennai Book Fair, I would like to share this photoblog with nearly a hundred photos that I shot for your benefit. Hope you all get a feel of a virtual tour of the fair, since it is about books, I have focused on the book titles readable and not the shops and surroundings :-) [Disclaimer: By no means this coverage is comprehensive or the photos are my endorsement/liking. I have visited the stalls that caught my attention and took random…

Chennai Book Fair 2019
Chennai Book Fair is an annual pilgrimage for me. Every year I buy several dozen books, last year (2018) I bought over 35 books, but this year I purchased only four books as in year past (2018) I have been buying books on a regular basis mostly from Amazon India including Tamil books. I liked last year’s venue at St.George School as I was able to travel by metro train, the station was right in front of the venue. This year’s venue at YMCA Nandanam too was close to a Metro station, but not convenient for me, as I live within 3 kilometers and by metro it will be 5-6…

Chennai Book Fair 2018
A visit and shopping spree to Chennai Book Fair is an annual event for me that I look forward to. And in last few years, it’s become a pilgrimage that I & my son undertake together. This year the travel to the venue became super convenient with the metro train line reaching there, the Pachayappa’s College station is right in front of the St.George School – the venue. Out of the total 35 books that we bought, most of it was selected by my son for his reading. The books we got on 11/Jan/2018:

It’s an important event in the calendar of everyone in Chennai, the biggest book fair in South India which is celebrating it’s 40th year- Chennai Book Fair 2017. This year it’s happening at the grounds of St.George School in Poonamallee High Road opposite to Pachaiyappa’s college, if you are coming by car you need to enter the grounds through the entrance in New Avadi Road due to Chennai Metro construction work. There were about 650 stalls overall with lots and lots of Tamil books, I went in the afternoon today and it was crowded – happy to see so many people coming and buying books. The following are the books I bought this time,…

Chennai Book Fair 2016
This year (2016) due to Chennai floods in December, the annual book fair got postponed. It’s happening this week – June 1st to 13th 2016. I made my customary visit to the book fair today with my son. This year the book fair is happening in the spacious Island Grounds near Victory War Memorial where the annual trade fair happens in January & February of every year. The organizers have done a good job in terms of parking and stall arrangement this year, kudos to them. My deal to my 12 year old was I will gave him Rs.500 at once, he will buy books with that and then call me if he needed additional money which…

Chennai Book Fair 2015
After the new year celebrations I eagerly look forward to that year’s Chennai Book Fair event that happens around Pongal. With all the online purchases of books I do, both paper and kindle, I expected this enthusiasm to taper off over the years, unexpectedly I am finding it only to grow. This year too I was excited and have visited the book fair twice in the first week itself. These are the books that myself and son bought in these trips.
