The World’s End (2013) is the last of the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy from Edgar Wright. The first in the series, the zombie comedy thriller Shaun of the Dead (2004) set the trend and was by far the best in the trilogy, the second Hot Fuzz (2007) was about an overachieving cop discovering the dark secret of a model village in the UK.
If the first two films in the series, takes place inside “a” pub – The World’s End (2013) is about five childhood friends getting together after like 25 years for a drinking spree at 12 “different” pubs in their sleepy hometown – what starts off as sad and pathetic, turns out to be a nightmare, as they discover the whole town has been taken over by Alien Androids who want to assimilate the humans into them. I enjoyed this one too, but a little lesser than the other two, as most of the ideas looked familiar and because of the lengthy dialogue in the climax.
The five actors who portrayed the gang were simply brilliant, almost living the eccentric characters.
