Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (துருவங்கள் பதினாறு) is a mystery thriller directed by Karthick Naren. Inspector Deepak (Actor Rahman) is living in a bungalow in Ooty, after loosing his right leg while investigating a psycho murder case five years back while in duty in Coimbatore he is now in retirement. One day Deepak’s colleague sends his son an youngster aspiring to join the police force to seek guidance from the experienced hand. While having Tea with the visitor Deepak narrates the murder case that happened five years back leading to the accident. It begins with a hit & run case involving three youngsters under influence. Next a girl goes missing. What was supposed to be a simple case gets complicated beyond imagination.

It’s not easy to direct a murder mystery without revealing the plot early on, in D16 we find ourselves from the beginning on the edge of our seats. I found it difficult to agree with the climax shown but it certainly was an unexpected turn. It was a big relief to see a Tamil film without any songs or Tasmac bar scenes, for both a big applause is due to the young Director. A fine composed performance throughout by Actor Rahman. Music by Jakes Bejoy supports the screenplay adequately. Most of the actors in the film were new faces and they have all delivered their roles well.

An interesting film, must watch.
